Sunny weather will dominate across Bulgaria on Thursday, July 23, although afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected in parts of the country, particularly in Central Northern Bulgaria, the eastern regions, and the mountains.
The day will begin with mostly clear skies before cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds develop around midday and into the afternoon. Brief rain showers are forecast in some areas, with isolated thunderstorms possible. Winds will be light to moderate from the north-northwest, temporarily shifting to the northeast across southeastern Bulgaria later in the day. Daytime highs will generally range between 25C and 30C, with temperatures in Sofia reaching around 26C.
Mountain areas will also see mostly sunny conditions during the morning before cloud cover increases in the afternoon. The highest chance of brief showers and isolated thunderstorms will be over the Rila and Rhodope Mountains. A moderate northwesterly wind will prevail. Temperatures are expected to reach about 21C at 1,200 meters and around 14C at 2,000 meters.
Along the Black Sea coast, the weather will remain mostly sunny. Early in the day, low clouds or reduced visibility may affect parts of the northern coastline. During the afternoon, cumulus clouds will develop, bringing brief showers to isolated locations. Winds will be moderate from the northwest before turning northeasterly along the southern coast later in the day. Maximum temperatures will range from 24C to 28C, while sea water temperatures will remain between 25C and 26C. Sea conditions are expected to be slight to moderate, with waves of 2 to 3 on the Beaufort scale.
