Bulgaria will experience hot summer weather on Thursday, July 16, with mostly sunny conditions across the country during the morning hours. In the afternoon, cumulus and cumulus-rain clouds will develop, bringing short-term rainfall and thunderstorms mainly in northeastern areas and the mountains.
Temperatures will remain high, with maximum values ranging between 31°C and 36°C in most parts of the country. In Sofia, the temperature is expected to reach around 32°C. Winds will be light to moderate, coming from the east-northeast.
"The weather will remain mostly sunny before noon, while afternoon cloud development will bring localized showers and thunderstorms, especially over northeastern and mountainous regions," forecasters said.
In mountain areas, the morning will be mostly clear and sunny, but conditions will change in the afternoon as clouds build up. Many mountain regions will see thunderstorms and brief periods of rain, with more intense precipitation expected in the Rila-Rhodope area.
A light to moderate northeasterly wind will prevail, while in the highest mountain areas it may temporarily become strong from the north-northwest. Temperatures will reach around 24°C at an altitude of 1,200 meters and about 16°C at 2,000 meters.
