Cloudy and unsettled weather will continue in parts of Bulgaria on Friday, Aug. 14, with intermittent rain and thunderstorms expected mainly in the southwest and mountainous areas, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
The southwestern parts of the country will remain under more extensive cloud cover, with periods of rain in some areas. During the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms are expected in the mountains. Elsewhere, the morning will be mostly sunny, followed by scattered clouds around midday and in the afternoon.
Moderate northeasterly winds will continue across the country. Daytime temperatures will reach between 26°C and 31°C, with Sofia expected to see a high of around 27°C.
Clouds will remain more widespread over most mountain ranges. Rain will occur mainly in the Rila-Rhodope region and the Srednogorie, with thunderstorms also possible during the afternoon. Northeasterly winds will be moderate and temporarily strong.
Temperatures at 1,200 meters will reach around 20°C, while at an altitude of 2,000 meters the maximum will be about 12°C.
