Thunderstorms are expected to develop over western Bulgaria and parts of the northeast by the end of the day, while the Black Sea coast and southeastern regions will remain mostly sunny, according to the forecast for Thursday, June 25. Meteorologists warn of short-lived but locally intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and possible hail in affected areas, as cloud formations continue to build through the afternoon.
Afternoon temperatures have already reached a wide range across the country, with highs of 31°C in Silistra, Elhovo, and Cape Emine, around 30°C in Dobrich and Sandanski, and about 29°C in Varna, Burgas, Shumen, Sliven, Karnobat, Stara Zagora, and Kyustendil. Sofia recorded 26°C, while Plovdiv reached 27°C. Mountain areas remained significantly cooler, with 11°C on Botev Peak and Cherni Vrh, 14°C on Murgash and in Rozhen, and just 6°C on Musala.
Later in the evening, temperatures are expected to ease slightly to between 27°C and 32°C across most regions, especially where thunderstorms develop. Overnight, rainfall in western and central Bulgaria will gradually fade, cloud cover will decrease, and Eastern Bulgaria will see mostly clear and calm conditions. Morning fog or reduced visibility is likely in valleys and near rivers in the western half of the country.
