The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a forecast warning for Thursday, indicating unstable atmospheric conditions across Bulgaria, with yellow and orange codes declared in parts of the country due to expected thunderstorms, hail, and locally intense rainfall.
According to duty forecaster Ralena Dimitrova, the weather pattern over the country will remain highly unstable, with the development of cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds leading to widespread short-term precipitation accompanied by thunderstorms. In many areas, the rainfall is expected to be temporarily heavy, with conditions favorable for hail formation.
The storm activity, which begins in western regions during the day, is forecast to gradually extend across nearly the entire country. The most intense weather events are expected in Western and Central Bulgaria, where precipitation and thunderstorm activity will be most significant. Wind conditions will vary, with weak to moderate westerly to northwesterly winds dominating most areas, while eastern parts of the country will remain influenced by southern air currents.
Maximum daytime temperatures are expected to range between 22 and 27 degrees Celsius, with Sofia reaching around 22 degrees. Atmospheric pressure will remain below the monthly average but is expected to begin a slow increase after midday.
