Bulgaria will see stronger winds and cooler air on Friday, September 4, with mostly sunny conditions expected across the country before clouds build during the afternoon, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
Temperatures will reach between 27°C and 32°C, with Sofia expected to see a high of around 27°C. The north-northwestern wind will strengthen during the day, bringing cooler air into the country.
Central and eastern Bulgaria, as well as the mountains of southwestern Bulgaria, may see short-lived rain and thunderstorms around and after noon as cumulus clouds develop. The showers will be localized, with sunny weather prevailing during much of the day.
Mountain areas will also remain mostly sunny in the morning, followed by increasing cumulus clouds around and after noon. Showers and thunderstorms are possible in parts of the mountains of southern Bulgaria and along the central and eastern sections of the Stara Planina. Winds will be moderate to strong from the north-northwest.
Temperatures will be considerably lower at higher elevations, reaching around 21°C at 1,200 meters and about 13°C at 2,000 meters.
