A 20-year-old man died Wednesday evening after becoming ill at the Akropolis shopping mall in Vilnius, police said.
The incident occurred at about 19:40 on August 26. Police and medical personnel who responded to the scene pronounced the man dead.
Police said the man had serious health problems. His body showed no signs of violence, and authorities have opened a pretrial investigation to determine the cause of death.
According to Akropolis Group, the man sought help at a pharmacy inside the shopping mall after feeling unwell. Pharmacy employees provided first aid and immediately called emergency medical services.
“On Wednesday evening, a tragic accident occurred at Vilnius Akropolis. A person who felt unwell sought help at the Eurovaistinė pharmacy in the shopping centre. Its employees responded immediately, provided necessary first aid and called an ambulance,” Paulius Pocius, head of marketing and communications at Akropolis Group, told BNS.
