Reports indicate the closure of numerous gas stations across Tehran, Karaj, and parts of southern Tehran, while government officials offer conflicting statements regarding the underlying causes, potential quota reductions, or fuel price hikes.
The Tabnak news agency, affiliated with Mohsen Rezaei, reported that gas stations in the Resalat, Seraj, Shahid Babaei Expressway, Lashgarak Road, and Dardasht areas of Tehran have shut down. While these locations are concentrated in the eastern part of the capital, citizen reports indicate similar closures in southern Tehran and Karaj.
According to images and accounts shared on social media, several stations ceased operations in the afternoon, resulting in long queues at remaining open facilities.
The news outlet Nabz-e Gheimat reported that daily supply caps have been imposed on individual stations, automatically shutting off nozzles once the daily limit is reached. While multiple users posted similar accounts, the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) has not officially confirmed the implementation of such restrictions.
Fereydoun Yasemi, Regional Manager of NIOPDC for Tehran, attributed the fuel exhaustion at several stations to a sudden surge in demand alongside transport delays.
