The Danube River continues to recede along Bulgaria’s section, with water levels falling by between 1 and 5 centimeters over the past 24 hours, according to August 12 data from the Executive Agency for the Study and Maintenance of the Danube River.
The sharpest decline was recorded at Lom, where the level fell by 5 centimeters to -25 cm. At Novo Selo, the river dropped by 3 centimeters to -76 cm, while Oryahovo recorded a 2-centimeter decrease, bringing the level there to -103 cm.
In Nikopol, the Danube fell by 3 centimeters to -15 cm. Svishtov also registered a 3-centimeter decline, with the level reaching -60 cm. At Ruse, the water level dropped by 2 centimeters to -116 cm, while the smallest decrease, 1 centimeter, was measured at Silistra, where the level stood at -102 cm.
Authorities continue to monitor conditions along the shipping route. Because of the low water levels, the dimensions of the navigable fairway have been reduced between kilometer 374.10 and kilometer 610.00.
Several areas remain particularly critical for navigation, including Batin Island, Svishtov, Golyam Barzina Island, Palets Island and Somovit.
