A 46-year-old woman accused of involvement in the deadly 2010 arson attack on a Marfin Bank branch that killed three employees was given until Tuesday to provide a formal statement to an investigating magistrate, her lawyer said Thursday.
Attorney Kostas Papadakis said his client “declares herself innocent, from the first moment,” adding that case file evidence does not identify her. He said she had spent 25 days in unjustified detention in London, despite cooperating from the outset and even offering to pay her own way to Greece.
She is now held at the General Security Directorate.
Papadakis said he would withhold further comment until reviewing the file, but insisted “the word identification is false” regarding his client. He said she had attended the 2010 anti-austerity protest “like the 100,000 people who were there then,” but was not at the site of the bank fire in Athens.
