A Greek woman living in Britain who is accused of involvement in the 2010 arson attack on an Athens bank that killed three people during an anti-austerity protest is due in Greece Thursday under police escort after her extradition from the United Kingdom.
The 46-year-old woman will be taken to police headquarters and on Friday she will appear before a judge at the Athens main court complex.
Earlier, British authorities approved the Greek request for her extradition.
She had been arrested at Gatwick airport on July 13 on an international warrant and was taken to the Westminster Magistrates’ Court where she allegedly said she agreed to her extradition.
While Greek authorities link her with the May 5, 2010 attack by suspected far-leftists on the Marfin Bank branch on central Akadimias Street, in which three employees died trapped in the burning building, no specific role in the incident has been attributed to her.
