A 46-year-old woman accused of involvement in the deadly 2010 arson attack on the Marfin Bank branch in Athens, which killed three employees, has voluntarily contacted Greek authorities, insisting she is innocent and saying she wants to return to Greece immediately to face justice.
Greek authorities have arrested two men and issued an arrest warrant for the 46-year-old woman, who lives in Brighton, UK, in a major breakthrough in one of the country’s most high-profile unsolved cases.
According to her lawyer, who also represents the two 42-year-old men arrested, the woman was informed of the developments and said she intends to “be present” in the proceedings.
State broadcaster ERT reported that she could return from the UK on Monday and appear before the investigating judge on Tuesday.
