Two 42-year-old men arrested over the 2010 firebombing of a Marfin bank branch that killed three employees were jailed Tuesday after appearing before an investigating judge.

They testified for about four hours, denied the charges, and, with the prosecutor’s consent, were sent to prison. Authorities are awaiting extradition of a 46-year-old woman arrested at a British airport as she tried to return to Greece to appear before authorities.

The investigation relied partly on photos recovered from a hard drive seized in 2020 during a search of a Nea Ionia home in an unrelated case.

Investigators selected images of three people, labeled “Person 1,” “Person 2” and “Person 3,” and compared them with ID photos, forensic police material and, for the woman, social media photos.

Lab experts concluded “Person 1” was KS, “Person 2” was EA and “Person 3” was another individual with the same initials, EA.
