Two men have been arrested in the Greater Athens region during the handover of a suitcase containing 18 kilograms of marijuana that had just been smuggled into the country by air, authorities said Friday.
A third suspect was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being the final intended recipient of the drugs that were brought in at the Athens international airport from an unspecified location, a police statement said.
One of the suspects was also found to be growing four cannabis plants at home and possessed two pairs of precision scales for weighing small quantities of drugs, it added.
The three men faced charges including importing, growing and dealing in drugs.
