Two men have been arrested on the western island of Kefalonia after allegedly ordering more than a kilogram of marijuana by mail, authorities said Wednesday.
A police statement said the suspects, both aged 20 and with previous arrests for alleged drugs offences, were taken into custody in a sting operation after police at Athens International Airport detected the drugs in a parcel addressed to the men.
Police in Kefalonia were alerted, and when the suspects turned up late Tuesday to take delivery of the package – that contained 1.27 kilos of marijuana – they were arrested.
