Police in the southern Mani region have arrested a man who had allegedly ordered nearly half a kilogram of marijuana by parcel delivery, while separately a woman was caught in Thessaloniki with close to one kilo of heroin, authorities said Thursday.
In the first drugs arrest, the marijuana was spotted when it came to a delivery company warehouse in the Greater Athens region, and police decided to wait and see who would pick it up at the address it was due – detaining the suspect in the southern Peloponnese’s municipality of Western Mani.
A search of the 27-year-old’s home revealed small quantities of marijuana and two pairs of precision scales that would have served for weighing out small quantities of the drug for sale.
Separately, a tip-off led to the arrest of a 46-year-old woman in the northern port city of Thessaloniki who was found in possession of 910 kilograms of heroin.
Both arrests were made Wednesday.
