Officers patrolling on foot have arrested three under-age youths for allegedly trying to mug another two boys walking through central Athens after dark, authorities said Tuesday.
A police statement said the suspects allegedly threatened the two on Sunday night with unspecified sharp implements and demanded that they hand over whatever money they were carrying on them.
The suspects were only identified as foreign nationals aged 16 and 17, who allegedly targeted two of their compatriots. They face charges of attempted robbery.
Police have stepped up patrols in central Athens during the summer tourist season.
