President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to keep the Madlanga Commission's findings undisclosed has sparked outrage and fears that it will erode public accountability.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that the names and findings from the Madlanga Commission’s second interim report will remain under wraps until the inquiry concludes. This decision has sparked public concern and frustration, with many fearing that withholding this information could erode transparency and weaken public accountability.

Retired Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, who is chairing the commission, handed the second report to Ramaphosa on May 29, 2026.

The report focuses heavily on alleged corruption allegations within the SAPS and other regional metro police departments, alongside evidence concerning major drug busts.

This includes the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) and Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD).
