The incident occurred as Esan visited the flyover to assess reports of structural defects that recently sparked public concern over the quality of the project and the use of public funds.

The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the forthcoming August 2026 Osun State governorship election, Comrade Olajide Esan, was involved in a confrontation with operatives of the Osun State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, on Thursday while attempting to inspect the controversial Lameco Flyover in Osogbo.

The incident occurred as Esan visited the flyover to assess reports of structural defects that recently sparked public concern over the quality of the project and the use of public funds.

A video of the encounter seen by SaharaReporters shows the AAC candidate arriving at the entrance of the bridge, where security operatives had mounted barricades restricting access to the area.

In the footage, two Amotekun operatives stopped Esan from proceeding beyond the barricade. After he reportedly brought out his mobile phone to record the scene, another senior operative approached and was seen physically pushing him away from the restricted area.
