The AAC said the exclusion was particularly concerning because the town hall was expected to provide voters with an opportunity to hear candidates articulate their positions on issues affecting the state.

The African Action Congress (AAC), South West Zone, has protested the exclusion of its Osun State governorship candidate from an Arise News town hall scheduled ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The party, in a statement signed by its Deputy National Chairman, South West, Lijofi Victor, said it was writing “to formally register strong displeasure” over the exclusion of its duly nominated governorship candidate from the town hall, “The Battle For Osun State”.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Osogbo.

The AAC said it had taken note of the public announcement promoting the event with three candidates: Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji of APC, and Dr. Najeem Salaam of ADC.
