The party called on INEC and security agencies to take immediate action over what it described as a threat to democratic participation in Osun State.

The African Action Congress (AAC) has condemned the reported declaration by the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, barring presidential candidates other than President Bola Tinubu from campaigning in Osun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party described the monarch’s reported position as a threat to democracy and insisted that no traditional ruler has the constitutional authority to determine which presidential candidate can campaign in the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the AAC National Publicity Secretary, Rex I. Elanu, said Osun State belonged to its people and not to any monarch, political party or individual.

“Osun State belongs to its people, not to any monarch, political party or individual. No traditional ruler has the constitutional authority to determine who can or cannot seek the votes of Nigerians,” the statement said.
