The opposition party spoke on the heels of last Friday’s Ofu Obi Rally held in Enugu East Senatorial Zone for Tinubu and Mbah’s re-election on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC)

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the holding of early campaign rallies across the three senatorial zones of Enugu State for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah, in contravention of the statutory schedules of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 general elections.

The opposition party spoke on the heels of last Friday’s Ofu Obi Rally held in Enugu East Senatorial Zone for Tinubu and Mbah’s re-election on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Reacting to Friday’s rally, the Secretary of ADC in Enugu State, Comrade Adolphus Ude, in a press release, questioned the timing, wondering if the state has entered an “unofficial” campaign season nearly seven months before the general elections.

According to the revised timetable of INEC for the 2027 elections, presidential and National Assembly campaigns would commence on August 19, 2026, followed by the governorship and House of Assembly campaigns on September 9.
