The African Action Congress (AAC), Osun State chapter, has accused the Nigeria Police Force in the state of abandoning its constitutional role and acting as an enforcement arm of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that the state is sliding into political violence ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Akinlade Semiu Babatunde, the party alleged that the security situation in Osun has deteriorated despite the recent visit of the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, claiming the state has become "more insecure, more volatile, and more frightening" for residents.
