The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that Governor Ademola Adeleke is plotting to use the judiciary to orchestrate the arrest of newly inaugurated executives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The opposition party, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, noted that the governor was working with some members of the Accord Party and a High Court judge to procure an order for the arrest and remand of the state chairman of the NURTW and chairmen of the union across the state's local government areas.
According to the APC, the alleged move is aimed at intimidating the transport union leadership and creating tension in the build-up to the election.
The party claimed that the plan was linked to a court case purportedly instituted by the state government against some members of the newly sworn-in NURTW executive over what it described as "politically motivated" allegations.
