A 38-year-old pregnant woman lost her unborn child Friday after her ex-partner allegedly beat her at her home in Kallithea, authorities said.
The 28-year-old man, who had lived with the woman until their breakup, went to her residence, where the two argued violently before he knocked her down and kicked her in the stomach.
The woman, six months pregnant, was taken to Attikon Hospital with serious injuries. Doctors performed an emergency cesarean after the fetus’ condition deteriorated, but the unborn girl did not survive. The woman remains hospitalized as authorities investigate. The man was arrested and charged with attempted homicide and causing grievous bodily harm.
