A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault of his 37-year-old pregnant partner in Athens, after the woman reportedly lost her baby following the attack.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday afternoon in central Athens after being tracked down by police, authorities said.
He faces charges of attempted murder, unlawful termination of pregnancy, and domestic physical violence.
According to the woman’s account, the attack took place on the night of July 21 in the Athens suburb of Kallithea, where she was repeatedly punched and kicked.
She was taken to Attikon Hospital, where doctors performed an emergency cesarean section but were unable to save the baby.
