A 65-year-old man was arrested in Iraklio, Crete, on Monday after a viewer saw him beat up his 28-year-old partner during a live broadcast on TikTok.
The man called the emergency 112 number which alerted the police station in Malevizi. Officers located and arrested the man in a house where he was with the victim and his 15-year-old daughter who was present at the incident.
The 28-year-old woman, who comes from a city in northwestern Greece, reportedly told the police that she did not want to press charges.
The investigation revealed that police had seven more reports of incidents of domestic violence linked to the man, while the woman had been given a panic button.
The suspect will be led before a prosecutor who will file charges.
