South Africa- Pretoria- Madlanga commission- 23 July 2026. Adv Andrea Johnson continues with her testimony at the Madlanga Commission on Thursday.
Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Andrea Johnson has withdrawn a damaging claim and admitted she branded Brigadier Dineo Mokwele’s appointment a “token appointment” without ever seeing her qualifications, CV or application documents.
The admission sparked a dramatic moment at the Madlanga Commission, where Johnson was forced to apologise and concede that her judgment was based on incomplete and incorrect information supplied by investigators.
Johnson told the inquiry that she had authorised a full investigation into Mokwele’s 2024 appointment in SAPS Crime Intelligence’s Technical Support unit without personally reviewing the documents that detailed Mokwele’s academic background and professional experience.
She further admitted she was unaware that Mokwele was studying towards an MBA.
