A bomb threat led to the evacuation of Bulgaria’s presidential office on Wednesday morning, the Interior Ministry confirmed.
The presidency received a message warning of a possible explosive device, prompting authorities to activate the standard security procedures for such situations. Employees were evacuated from the building, President Iliana Yotova’s office said. After a thorough inspection, no suspicious items were found and normal operations at the presidency resumed.
The Interior Ministry said similar emails containing threats of planted explosives were sent to various institutions in Sofia, Varna and Burgas. Authorities specified that the messages were again directed at public buildings in the three cities, while checks were carried out according to established procedures.
Police said that no dangerous objects had been discovered during the inspections conducted so far. The Interior Ministry did not confirm earlier reports that the presidency had also been among the institutions targeted by the latest wave of threats.
The incidents follow a series of bomb alerts reported across Bulgaria earlier this month. On July 6, multiple institutions in different cities received anonymous messages claiming explosive devices had been planted.
