President Iliana Yotova has said that Bulgaria’s institutions responded quickly and effectively to a recent security incident involving a drone near Constanța in Romania, stressing that coordinated action prevented any risk to Bulgarian citizens.

She noted that the Ministry of Defense acted in close coordination with Romanian and Ukrainian services, as well as domestic security structures, following the June 5 incident in the Black Sea region. According to her, the response was timely and well organized.

“I think that this time we did very well,” Yotova said, adding that the rapid reaction ensured there was “not the slightest danger” to people in Bulgaria.

She also expressed hope that similar incidents would not occur during the upcoming summer tourist season, highlighting the importance of stability in the Black Sea region for tourism and civilian safety.
