Vice President Iliana Yotova expressed solidarity with the Romanian people following the Russian drone strike on a residential building in the city of Galati that left civilians injured, according to a statement released by the Bulgarian presidency.
In a letter addressed to Romanian President Nicusor Dan, Yotova stressed that Bulgaria stands firmly behind Romania in response to the incident. “As a NATO ally and a member of the European Union, Bulgaria will always support Romania’s actions to protect its territory and the lives of its citizens,” she wrote.
Yotova warned that the strike in Galati, together with increasingly direct rhetoric surrounding the war in Ukraine, represents a growing threat to stability in the Black Sea region and across Europe more broadly. She also emphasized the need for stronger diplomatic engagement and renewed efforts toward peace negotiations aimed at preventing further escalation.
