A new wave of bomb threats targeting public institutions has been reported across Bulgaria, with authorities receiving multiple alerts about allegedly planted explosive devices, the Ministry of Interior announced.
Police teams have launched inspections at the affected locations and are following standard procedures for handling such threats.
One of the messages sent to the Burgas District Court contained a direct threat claiming that explosives had been placed inside the building. The email reportedly stated: “Today, by God’s will, I planted explosives in your building. There are 2 hours left until the explosion. Then you will be blown to pieces. The countdown has begun.” The message was reported by Nova TV.
In Sofia, the Courthouse was evacuated after a bomb threat was received at around 10:30 a.m. Police units were sent to the scene and began searching the building.
The Smolyan Courthouse was also cleared as a precaution after a threatening email was sent to the District Court and District Prosecutor’s Office. A judge from the Administrative Court in Smolyan told BTA that the wording of the latest message differed slightly from a previous threat. “Today’s warning says ‘With God’s permission, I placed a bomb in your court,’ while yesterday’s message said ‘With Allah’s permission, I placed a bomb in your court,’” the judge explained.
