Police at the scene where two people were killed in a mass shooting in Wesbank, Malmesbury. Six adults and an infant were injured and admitted to hospital for medical treatment.

A 27-year-old suspect is expected in court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old pregnant woman and 22-year-old man in a mass shooting in Malmesbury at the weekend.

Police spokesperson Andrè Traut confirmed the suspect was arrested on Monday.

“An intensive investigation by SAPS detectives has resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect in connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Wesbank, Malmesbury, during the early hours of Sunday,” Traut said.

“The suspect was arrested on Monday, 13 July 2026, and is expected to appear in the Malmesbury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, on charges relating to the incident.”
