Suraan Windvogel's body was discovered along Cross Boulevard Street, in Kewtown, Athlone.
Rashaad "Boontjie" Daniels, 60, the man charged with the murder of engineer Suraan "Pokkel" Windvogel was out on parole when he allegedly committed the heinous crime.
Daniels will now remain behind bars in the sentenced prisoners division at Pollsmoor Prison after he violated his parole conditions. Daniels was out on parole after being sentenced for theft of a motor vehicle at the time of 31-year-old Windvogel's murder.
He is now not eligible for bail. Daniels made his second appearance at the Athlone Magistrates Court Monday where he faced a large contingency of community members including Windvogel's family who handed in a petition into the court calling for his bail to be denied.
The state indicated that the magistrate last week had granted media permission to photograph Daniels inside court and that he had not disputed the request. Daniels soon changed his tune while speaking via his legal aid lawyer claiming that his family would be in danger because his face is being blasted in the public and media domain.
