Rashaad Daniels allegedly used an alias when he was arrested in May this year at Woodstock and Athlone Police Stations for charges relating to theft of a motor vehicle.
Claims of a broken parole system has surfaced yet again after the Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police, Major General Luyanda Damoyi was urgently penned a letter following it being revealed that murder accused Rashaad “Boontjie” Daniels, 60 was out on parole - and was twice in the clutches of police prior to the killing.
Activists and MPs argue that Engineer Suraan Windvogel’s murder could have been prevented had the parole system not been corrupt and dysfunctional.
The Cape Argus can exclusively reveal that Daniels allegedly used an alias when he was arrested in May this year at Woodstock and Athlone Police Stations for charges relating to theft of a motor vehicle and possession of house/vehicle breaking equipment.
It is understood that one of the cases was archived.
