A 60-year-old has been arrested for the murder of Suraan Windvogel.
Police have confirmed that a 60-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of engineer Suraan Windvogel, whose decomposing body was found hidden inside a refuse bag in Kewtown this week.
Police said the suspect was arrested on Friday, June 26, and is expected to make an appearance at the Athlone Magistrates’ Court once charged.
Police spokesperson, Constable Ndakhe Gwala explained: “A 60-year-old male suspect was arrested on Friday, 26 June 2026, at about 21:30. Once charged, he will appear at the Athlone Magistrate’s Court.”
Earlier, Windvogel’s family confirmed that she was an engineer who fell on hard times after suffering a breakdown and was struggling with bipolar disorder.
