Eight water-dropping aircraft were mobilised Friday to help scores of firefighters battling a large wildfire raging through forest and farmland south of Corinth in the Peloponnese, authorities said.
The Fire Service said 85 firefighters with 21 fire engines, drones, volunteers and water-tankers provided by local authorities were struggling to contain the blaze on the ground, near the village of Spathovouni.
Civil protection authorities issued a push alert to mobile phones for Spathovouni residents to prepare for potential evacuation should the order be given.
There were no immediate reports of damage to property or injuries.
Earlier Friday, five water-dropping aircraft took off to help ground forces fighting a wildfire blazing through a forest on the foothills of the Agrafa Mountains in western Thessaly.
