Ten water-dropping aircraft flew sorties Thursday to assist large ground forces struggling to control a major wildfire near the town of Orchomenos in central Greece’s Viotia region, the Fire Service said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage to property.
A total 62 firefighters, together with 17 fire engines, water tankers and volunteers, took part in the operation. The blaze was burning through a mixture of forest and farmland, the Fire Service said.
A different fire in the same area was addressed Wednesday.
