The HRANA news agency reported that Omid Faraghat, a journalist residing in Karaj, was transferred to the Public and Revolutionary Court on Monday morning, June 29, following a summons by security agencies. He was subsequently sent to prison under a temporary arrest warrant.
According to the report, the charges leveled against the journalist were cited as “disturbing public opinion” and “acting against national security.” HRANA noted that a day before his arrest, Faraghat had reported receiving a telephone summons from the security police.
Omid Faraghat has faced judicial cases in the past as well. In November 2025, Branch 36 of the Tehran Province Court of Appeals sentenced him to a fine of 20 million tomans, substituted for three months in prison. This verdict followed an initial ruling by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, which had sentenced him to three months of imprisonment.
Additionally, in August 2025, another case against Faraghat was reviewed in the Karaj Revolutionary Court under the charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “disturbing public opinion,” of both of which he was acquitted.
HRANA wrote that Omid Faraghat, a journalist and media activist living in Karaj, has repeatedly faced judicial pressure and crackdowns due to his media activities.
