A total of 92 educational institutions from 26 countries around the world have already joined the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies, including four universities in Poland: the University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, the University of Gdańsk, and the Kraków University of Economics.
Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
“As part of Ukrainian Academic Week in Poland, the University of Warsaw, the Krakow University of Economics, Jagiellonian University, and the University of Gdańsk have joined the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies. The coalition already includes Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the University of Wrocław, and the University of Economics in Bydgoszcz," she wrote.
According to Zelenska, it is particularly important that universities with long-standing traditions in Ukrainian studies and leading research centers in Poland are joining this collaboration. This will mean new joint research projects, academic exchanges, translation initiatives, support for students and faculty, as well as a broader presence for Ukraine in the European academic sphere, she noted.
"Ukrainian studies today are a tool for cultural diplomacy, countering Russian disinformation, and shaping knowledge about Ukraine based on Ukrainian sources, experiences, and voices. The Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies has already been joined by 92 educational institutions from 26 countries around the world, opening up even more opportunities for dialogue, mutual understanding, and a shared future,” she said.
