A heatwave will persist in Lithuania for the next three days and is likely to peak on Monday with temperatures reaching up to 37C, according to the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service (Meteo LT).
“The heatwave that is scorching Western Europe is now gradually moving toward us,” Elena Klyukina, a meteorologist at Meteo LT, told reporters on Friday.“Temperatures on Saturday are expected to range from 28C to 33C. On Sunday, it will be even hotter, reaching 31C to 36C. According to the latest data, Monday will be the hottest day, with temperatures expected to reach 32 to 37C in many regions,” she said.According to Klyukina, the heat will subside on Tuesday, with temperatures expected to drop to 24C to 29C. The heat will grip all of Lithuania, though it may be slightly cooler along the coast.The meteorologist said new heat records were also likely.The current June record was registered at the Kaišiadorys station in 2019, when temperatures reached 35.7C.
