Six separate marijuana farms have been located and destroyed in a mountainous region near the town of Rethymno on the southern island of Crete, authorities said Wednesday.
A police statement said a total 57 cannabis plants up to two meters in height were found and uprooted during Wednesday’s operation in Rethymno’s Mylopotamos region.
Police are now seeking to establish who had planted and cared for the farms. No information was provided on the street value of the marijuana under cultivation.
Thousands of cannabis plants have been destroyed during a crackdown on illicit farms all over Greece in the past few weeks.
