Authorities on the southern island of Crete have rumbled a marijuana-growing operation involving more than a thousand plants and arrested four people for allegedly producing and trafficking the drug.
A police statement Friday said the farm was located in a remote forested area in the broader Hania region, following a months-long investigation. Officers arrested three Greeks and a foreign national.
A total 1,300 seedlings were destroyed, while police also confiscated gardening tools and a sophisticated drip irrigation system.
Raids on the suspects’ home resulted in the seizure of small quantities of marijuana, two pairs of precision scales and €3,500 in cash believed to derive from drug-dealing.
