A 44-year-old man whom police suspect may be linked to the disappearance of a woman in the region of Hania, in Crete, appeared before a prosecutor on Saturday where he was expected to be charged with possession of cannabis seedlings.
Stavroula Leventaki went missing from the village of Ayia on May 30, but the disappearance was reported from her brother seven days later.
The 44-year-old was among the suspects the police have been questioning during the investigation, as he was renting a house from Leventaki. When officers searched the residence they found the cannabis seedlings in an open area. The suspect reportedly claimed that he maintained the plants together with another person.
Meanwhile, a local news website reported that traces of blood found on the floor and the TV set in the house belong to Leventaki, while results are expected for traces reportedly found on a mop and the suspect’s van.
