A yellow warning code for intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and hail has been issued for 23 regions across the country. In the regions of Vidin, Montana, and Vratsa, a yellow code is also in effect for strong winds.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, cumulonimbus cloud development is expected today, with short-term rain and thunderstorms in many areas. More significant rainfall amounts are forecast for Central and Eastern Bulgaria, as well as mountainous regions. Hailstorms are also possible.

Winds will be moderate, becoming strong from the north-northwest in the Danube Plain, the western part of the Upper Thracian Lowland, and along the Struma River valley. Maximum temperatures will generally range between 20°C and 25°C, with around 19°C expected in Sofia.

In the mountains

Cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, bringing short-term rain and thunderstorms to many areas. The heaviest rainfall is expected in the central parts of the Balkan Mountains and the Rila–Rhodope region. Winds will be light to moderate, mainly from the west-northwest. Maximum temperatures will be around 14°C at 1,200 meters and about 6°C at 2,000 meters above sea level.
