A suspected drug trafficker has been arrested outside student residence buildings on university grounds in Athens, police said Tuesday.
The 21-year-old suspect was stopped Sunday afternoon at the complex in the capital’s Zographou district, following a tip-off, and tried to escape by running towards the residence halls.
Officers stopped him and confiscated some 200 grams of marijuana in 111 little packages for sale. Police said the suspect had prior arrests for alleged drug dealing.
The sprawling Athens University campus, is set in pine-forested – but largely neglected – land in Zographou and Ilissia.
