Minister for Environment and Climate Change V. K. Rajeev, who is also in-charge of the district, on Monday chaired a meeting here to review the progress of development projects, implementation of government schemes and law and order situation in the district.He held discussiions with Collector Ranjeet Singh and Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar about the development projects and the law and order situation and later visited the government hospital.Members of Tenkasi District Iyarkaivala Paathukaappu Sangam submitted to a petition to Mr. Rajeev, detailing the violations in quarrying and transportation of stones to Kerala in heavy vehicles. “The illegally mined stones are transported to Kerala in excess in heavy vehicles, which cause traffic snarls and accidents along Tenkasi – Kollam Highway everyday,” the petitioners said.Mr. Rajeev also visited the check-post at Puliyarai through which hundreds of heavy trucks carrying minerals to Kerala pass through everyday.
