The Delta State chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) has condemned a barbaric, lawless and unprovoked invasion of Emede community in Isoko South Local Government Area by joint security personnel, alleging that several houses were set ablaze, women assaulted and residents abducted during the operation.
In a statement issued on Friday by the party's State Chairman, Comrade Prince Maxwell Ogor, the AAC accused security operatives of carrying out a campaign of collective punishment against residents of the community following an incident involving some youths and security personnel.
According to the party, reports reaching its leadership indicated that the operation, which began as an attempt to apprehend suspected drug dealers, escalated into widespread violence, destruction of property and serious violations of the rights of residents.
