Police have launched a manhunt following the murder of an 18-year-old boy who was allegedly attacked with a panga in Braamfischerville, west of Johannesburg.

The victim, a learner at a secondary school in Meadowlands, succumbed to his injuries after he was allegedly attacked by unknown suspects on Tuesday, June 2.

Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said officers were called to a local clinic at about 10:35 am after receiving a report of a death.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the teenager had left home earlier that morning to visit a friend in Phase 1, Braamfischerville.

It is alleged that the pair later went to a secondary school in the area, where the victim was attacked and assaulted by unknown suspects.
