A Manenberg man cheated death when a bullet struck him in the head “when someone asked him for an entjie”(cigarette) on Sunday morning.
Anti-crime activists are questioning why Manenberg remains under-resourced while residents continue to face gang and gun violence despite the SANDF deployment.
The 44-year-old man was attacked in Lynne Road at about 8.30am on Sunday after he was allegedly asked for a cigarette.
The incident happened while the victim was waiting for transport to work. He sustained a gunshot wound to the head, but survived the attack.
Provincial SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that the suspect is still at large.
